Need help with 1394 net adapter. Recently I can't connect
to my DSL. My ISP indictate the DSL line is good but I
just can't connect. I notice under network adapter,
there's a 1394 net adapter with a red x next to it beside
my regular ethernet card. I did some research and found
that the 1394 net adapter is a firewire port. How do I
delete 1394 net adapter. If my guest is correct that 1394
net adapter is causing the connection problems.

If Windows XP created a network bridge between the Ethernet adapter
and the 1394 net adapter, right click and delete the network bridge.
If there's no network bridge, those two adapters are completely
independent of each other, and I don't think it's likely that the 1394
net adapter is causing problems.

If you want to try removing the 1394 adapter:

1. Go to Device Manager and un-install the 1394 adapter.

2a. If the 1394 adapter is built into the computer's motherboard,
reboot, go into the computer's BIOS setup program, and logically
delete or disable the device.

2b. If the 1394 adapter is an add-on card, shut down the computer and
physically remove the adapter from the computer.
