This is an interesting parallel to the problem I observe when using a
1Gb/s ethernet LAN connection (see my post: GB file transfers kill
1Gb/s LAN connection; comp.os.ms-windows.networking.windows; message
<(E-Mail Removed)>).
In my case the connection breaks down when I transfer (always only if
in one direction) files with a few GB whereas files of several tens of
MB size get across without problems. The otherwise apparently
identical behaviour with different physical channels may indicate,
that the bug underlying this failure might on reside in the higher
layers of the protocols or even the OS itself.
Being no solution to your problem my observations might provide a
pointer where to search for it.
