Last weekend my main PC here died - mobo problem.

So I replaced the mobo and CPU put in new memory, ghosted one of the hard
disks to a larger one, played around a bit and got my system back up and
running solidly and faster than it was before EXECEPT for my FIrewire stuff.

I had two devices hanging off a Firewire card in my old configuration, a
UMAX scanner and a !394 external HD I use for back up. On the old config.
there was a PCI Firewire card. The new mobo has FIrewire on board.

Neither Firewire device is now seen. the FireWire ports seem recognised in
Device manager. I have tried adding the PCI Firewire card from the old PC
and that is recognised in DM but I just can't get the scanner or HD to
be seen.

I also tried a PCI Firewire card and disabled the onboard one - again the
contrller was recognised in Device Manager but neither 1394 device is
seen/works

The system is running W2k fully patched to SP4 and beyond. Loads and loads
of software on the PC Athlon 2200+, 512MB ram two IDE disks totalling 120GB
, an IDE tape, and an IDE DVD player. SCSI card with SCSI CD-RW. Various
USB stuff hanging off the PC too all of which works. Old Parallel port Zip
disk.

Both 1394 devices have their own power supplies. The rest of the PC works
fine and seems very stable and happy.

Any advice?

Martin
