My IEEE 1394 net adapter dissappeared from my XP Home
Dell Laptop and I can't get it back. Microsoft says they
have fix but says wait for next Service Pack. I've been
waiting for four months. I need my 1394 now!

When you say "Microsoft says they have a fix but says wait for next Service
Pack," did you read this in a knowledge base article somewhere? I'm just
curious as I'd like to follow up on that from my end.

Does the functionality of the 1394 port itself disappear with the net
adapter? Just curious, since there is also an OHCI compliant IEEE 1394
Host Controller which is independent of the 1394 Net Adapter.
