137 gig problem...strange

I recently purchased a 160 gig drive and attached it
to my Promise tx2-100 controller card. On bootup, it
shows it as being 149gigs (correct). When I get into XP
and go to Disk Management, it only shows 128(137).

I have all the latest updates. I have checked the MS site
which says to get the updated atapi.sys, which I have. It
just wouldn't happen.

I then booted up from a Win98SE bootdisk. I used the updated
fdisk, although it still didn't recognize a 160 gig. I formatted
the full capacity, which said 15 gigs .

I then went into XP, and it now shows the drive at its full capacity,
149 gigs. I am able to format it and it appears to work fine.

If I delete the partition, it goes back to 128.

I'm now wondering if everything will be fine after I use up 137 gigs.

Strange...
Tom

I wanted to followup on my issue.

Basically, it was the Promise Ultra100 TX2 controller. Even though
when it boots up, it detects the correct size, in XP SP1 it only shows
137 gigs.

I plugged the drive directly into one of my mobo controllers, and now
XP sees the correct size.

I am trying to get support from Promise to see what is wrong.
