128MB DIMMs from PLE133 mobo to EP-51MVP3E-M (VIA MVP3 based mobo)

As the subject said, I have pulled two 128MB DIMMs from a VIA PLE133
based mobo. The modules were installed into an Epox EP-51MVP3E-M mobo
which is VIA MVP3 based.

The memory modules worked fine EXCEPT:

I do not see the other half of the 256MB I had expected.

Questions:

1. What is the difference between the two types of DIMMs compatible
with each mobo?

2. Is there a hardware hack to enable the other half? I presume here
that an MSB address line is missing.

Appreciate any pointers to documentation online or otherwise.

Thanks

You're pretty much hitting the nail on the head with your guess above,
the VIA MVP3 chipset only supports 64Mbit chips at a maximum. You're
DIMMs likely use 128Mbit chips and just aren't supported by the
chipset. Each 128MB DIMM therefore gets detected instead as a 64MB
DIMM and you end up with only half your memory.

There is no solution to this.
