My folder is where it should be and my file names (12) are in the folder.
However, 11 of my 12 worksheet files that are listed in the folder present
the following message: "If you are trying to open the file from your list of
most recent used files on the File Menu, make sure that the file has not been
renamed, moved or deleted" I open my worksheet using the folder not the most
recent list. I am also puzzled why 11 files are lost but 1 is ok. Can you
help me, I have Excel 2003

Have you tried double-clicking the file icon while in Explorer, or
using File | Open from within Excel? Not sure what you mean by "I open
my worksheet using the folder not the most recent list".

Hi Pete, the 11 files I can't find are filed in a folder I call "Income
Comparison Statements". This folder is in "My Documents". Within this
folder I have 12 files, one for each month. I go to My Documents, then to
Income Comparison then I click on the month I want. This is where 11 of the
12 months are lost. I'll try your suggestions. Thanks,

Is it possible that the 11 "files" are just shorcuts to the files?

And the files have been misplaced in another folder?

Right-click on one of the 11 and check the properties.

Is it a shortcut to a file or is it the file itself.

You should be able to tell without looking at properties.

Just check the size..........shortcuts are usually only 1 or 2 kb in size.

The 12th file will open OK?

Hi Gord: to answer your questions it is a file (documents), the size is 13 -
19 KB when I check the properties on each one, the 12th file is gone now. Up
until now I had one file (document) that I could retrieve, now I have none.
