I need to connect a new laptop fitted with a 10/100 ethernet (RJ45) card
to a 10baseT network (BNC) will this just involve finding the neccessary
adapter (male RJ45 to a female BNC) or are other issues involved? Would
a USB to BNC be better option?
TIA

No, it's more complicated than that. The easiest way probably is to
find a (used, since I don't think anybody makes them any more) hub
that has both BNC and RJ45.

steps are necessary. ...Charlie

You need a transceiver; we use them to connect the old style twisted
pair to ethernet, and those are still available. I think you can also
get coax to ethernet transceivers. Try a web search for 'ethernet
transceiver'.

Worked for me. Cost me $10 for an 8 port plus BNC hub.
