I keep getting this after the computer has been on for some hours, the
Task manager is showing its the System that is hogging it all.

A reboot seems to clear it up..

No Viruses or Mallware/Rootkits or Trojans seem to be in the System..

It could be simple background tasks that only run when the computer is idle.
If you open a program like Notepad and type a sentence or two, does the cpu
time drop as though those things got out of the way? Or is the machine
sluggish and stays that way when you do anything on it?

Yes, it should show it. Unless it's malware that's distributed and doesn't
show up as one large user. In Task Manager, click the header of the cpu
column two times: That will put the non-zero uses all at the top of the
list.

Just an idea ... same thing happened to me, caused by Symantec software
which had gone unstable. Had to completely uninstall using a Symantec
utility, then reinstall to fix the problem.

Another idea ... similar problem caused by Firefox and Flash combo, with
*certain* Flash ads: had to block Flash to fix.

Run HD and RAM diagnostics, just in case. But first, open up the PC and
make sure that the HD connectors and the RAMs are seated properly. I
don't know about today's PCs, but in the old days intermittent errors of
this sort could be caused by bad connections.
