Hello,
Running Win 2000 Professional. This has become
extremely slow, cannot refresh windows properly, drag
windows smoothly etc etc, even when nothing is running.
Looking at CPU usage, I see approx 26 processes running,
with System using approx 30% and svchost.exe using 70%.
applications running are nil....

RAM is 128K with only 27160 avail, and the System Cache
using 70K approx.
Kernel Mem is 38040 with 34312 paged and 3728 non paged.
dunno if these figures can help ata ll, but they cant
hurt !!!
any ideas whether it is virus related, or some
administrator setting that has been tampered with by the 9
year old in the house !!!!
any clues would be much appreciated.
best regards
Larry kennedy

SVCHOST issues are usually the Blaster virus.

More info on the MS website.

Also Spyware/Trojans see;
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
and or SpyBot Search & Destroy - this app is more aggressive, use with care
Use a Firewall - Zonealarm has a free version

I assume you have a current AV app?
