This problem is really testing my patience. It started like 4 days ago and
I've yet to find a fix.. I've ran spybot, adaware, spydoctor.. installed
newest norton and everything says no viruses found.

The problem is when the computer starts the CPU goes to 100% usage.. At
first glance it looks like it's in Svchost.exe for the DNSclient with 3
Kernel32.dll threads using around 30 to 35% usage each. If I disable
DNSclient it jumps to all the different processes that are open or programs..
Like process explorer will all of a sudded says it's using 50% usage and
explorer 50% and process monitor will show continuously opening and closing
reg entries or files or querying for them.

If i'm connected to the internet the usage goes down but the SVChost is
still continually doing a query of somekind on the kernel32's.. They all says
wait: WrLPCreceive.

I'm usually disconnected from the internet though on this pc so since the
problem begun i'm stuck at 100% usage. The wierd thing is the Username in
Taskmanager are all blank and System Idle process never shows a number in
it.. even when the the cpu %'s are fluctuating rapidly between the
difference processes open.

If I boot into safe mode though the cpu usage is normal. I've tried all the
different 100% usage tips I can find including RegCure, Process Explorer,
ProcMon, TcpView (the problem svchost isn't listed as listening though in
tcpview or at all). ProcMon goes off the charts getting to millions of
requests in just a couple minutes if I have DNSclient disabled. I don't know
if it's normal but it shows constant querying of files or reg entries opening
closing never ending.

I'm at the end of my ropes..

Thanks for any help you can offer..

Malicious software such as viruses or spyware could be installed on your

If a microsoft tech was working with you on that subject, chances are
you'd run Msconfig as outlined in kb310560.This sets up a troubleshooting
mode for xp...

Well it turns out that as I was writing this yesterday the newest norton was
sniffing out the problem.. I was running a full scan and it found a trojan
and that took care of the problem.. Once again Norton dominates.. I had run
like 2 other virus scanners and all the spyware software out there and they
all found nothing.

Thanks for the replies..
