I'm using Windows XP Home SP2 with myself as administrator and my wife as
the second user. After my wife logs in, then logs off from the start menu
(after closing all programs) and then clicks "switch user", her user icon
always shows "1 program running" (my user icon doesn't show any programs
running). When I click on her user icon and then look at task manager and
applications, there are no programs running. This is not causing a problem
but we are both curious as to what's going on. Any help would be
appreciated.

Probably a program that is running in the background. Do you both have
the same items in the task bar?

I did find the program that was running on the task bar but am still
wondering why it wasn't listed in task manager.

You will probably find it under Processes in the Task Manager.
