My daughter's computer has 1 DVD player and 1 CD player.
You can install software on either and play it on either,
but after instllation, you must insert the CD into the
player in which you installed the program with.

Is there a way to change this so that either player can
run the program no matter which on you used to install it?

I believe this is the result of a dumb application. There are ways to change
drive letters, but complain to the software writer.

Some programs (Windows Media Player) work fine with the media in either player.
It's not hard to have a program look to see if the CD is mounted and then look
to see where.
