0x80508018 Error

Windows Defender has been giving the subject error for a couple of weeks
on one of my XP PCs (GW 2.4 Ghz 1GB RAM, XP SP2 all fixes). WD scans,
but throws up this error at the end of the scan, so it never recognizes
that it has completed a scan. I've uninstalled/reinstalled, same error.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Jon,

I would suggest running a HijackThis to see if your computer is infected.

Please read this guide before actually doing the procedure
And it has all of the links for downloads you need.

Go to the following to post your log file and it will be analyzed by a

Good luck

Hi Jon,

Just out of interest. Am I correct in thinking that you are running CCleaner
or another registry cleaner?

Hi Jon,

In CCleaner
Uncheck Windows Defender in the Applications box.

Done.
