Hi,

I can't update the definition file !
I get this error 0x80240025
"Windows Defender was unable to complete the update"

There is a Proxy in my lan !

Can someone help me ?

Can you reach WindowsUpdate?

Can you attemt an update, via help, about, check for updates, and then go to
\windows\windowsupdate.log (text file, open with notepad)--and cut and paste
just the final section relating to to that update attempt--to a message in
this thread?

If you go to Windows Update, are you offered signature updates for WIndows
Defender?

I suspect, but am not certain, that the log indicates that you are on a
managed network that has blocked access to the Internet for AutoUpdate. I
don't understand it fully--because I think I should be seeing references to
SUS or WSUS servers, and I don't see them.

You're right... We have blocked access to Windows Update by policies.

I tried to log with the asministrator account then update works perfectly...

You're welcome. Windows Defender signatures can be distributed by
WSUS--perhaps worth considering in your environment.

Can you explain step-by-step how you fixed this problem as I am having the

It may be better to state your problem from the beginning. Many posts
starting with "I am having the same problem" actually are not.

Are you on a managed, corporate, network?
