Every now and then we get this error message when trying to send emails. It
does not happen every time emails are sent, only occasionally.
If we exit from Outlook and then re-start the program, the emails are sent
with no problems.
What is causing this and how can it be fixed. We were using McAfee and are
now on Nod32 but experienced this error with both AV's.

This is a timeout error. It can be caused by antispam software, antivirus,
polling too often, and it can also be caused by using an SMTP server
different than your outgoing mail.

Hi Kathleen.
I do not understand this, because I send on average 30 emails per day with
some days peaking at 100 with no problem. Yet on the odd occasion, the email
gets stuck in the outbox with this error and the only way I can get it sent
is by exiting Outlook and re-starting it.
Thanks,
Ray

While it sits in your Outbox, what happens if you open it and then close it,
and do a send/receive?

Hi Kathleen,
I have had the error occurring today again to try your suggestion, but it
still sits in the outbox and comes up with the same error. I even tried to
move it to the drafts box and send again, but same error.
Thanks,
Ray

Yes. I have my work account and home account set up. I have the same set up
on my laptop but I have not yet experienced the error on the laptop.

Are both accounts causing the error or just one?

I have only had it happen to the work one, which is the one used most often.
My business partner only has his work account set up on his desktop but he
has also had this error code occasionally.

Does your work email use the same SMTP server as the ISP you use for internet
access?
