Even in safe mode, I get driver_power_save_failure error
on shutdown/hibernate/standby/restart. Began 2 weeks
ago...no new installs. Dell Latitude CpxJ 650, 512MB RAM.
Used dumpchk.exe to find the error, pstat.exe to point to
the offender. What could be causing this? Thanks!

If that error was STOP 0x0000009f Driver_Power_State_Failure

^^^^^^^

and also if you have Quicken

this one may help

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 245835
"STOP 0x9f" in Ntoskrnl.exe When Shutting Down or Restarting Computer

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=245835

or
If you have Phone Access Lookup installed

Hi JR!

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately neither of these two
support articles apply. Neither Quicken nor Phone Access
Lookup are installed on my computer.

I guess the most likely scenario is to find a driver that
is not ACPI-compliant.

However, I'm mystified as to why this happens even when I
start up my computer in Safe Mode. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Thanks for the tips, JR. However, this happens even when I
start up in Safe Mode and shut down. I have neither
Quicken nor the other driver on my machine. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Event Viewer are under
Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer
they have Applications, Security, System, three sections.
check each of them, if they have any error.
If you find error.
can you post error information
which is when you doble click on each error,
they show Event ID, Source, Descriptions, something like that.

Hi JR!

Thanks for the additional tips! In Event Viewer the System
Log will display the SaveDump event showing: "The computer
has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was:
0x0000009f (0x00000100, 0x8206c030, 0x8206c030,
0x82053d90"; however, no associated Application Log other
than bootup info corresponds to the same timestamp in the
Application Log pane. Any tips?

Thanks!
