Hi all,
I bought a Shuttle Barebone SB61G2-V3 .
I know, that you can do cdrom boot with EWF (even without EWF)with older
SB61G2 Shuttle barebone without any problem. But with the new
SB61G2-V3 I got 07b BSOD...grrr.
But I have seen this so often and I know that sometimes only a small
correction is needed.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!For the following You MUST know the risk
even you can buy a new computer (motherboard)!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I copied from the Shuttle homepage a new biosversion for SB61G2 and the
flash utility for Windows WinFlash from there.

!!!First I did with WinFlash a BACKUP of my Bios from SB61G2-V3 !!!

Then I installed the new biosversion for SB61G2
on my new SB61G2-V3 with WinFlash but this gives again 0x0000007b when
trying CDrom boot with EWF.

Now I did the following: I copied with WinFlash the original Bios
PhoenixAwardBios 6A79AH2AC-00 (27.8.2003)
from the old SB61G2 to the new SB61G2-V3 Shuttle. And voila, there
appeares XPE from CDROM!

Two things have I also noticed:
1.)You MUST disable serial ATA in Bios. This is no problem, even (as I)
You have a serial ATA harddisk. After Cdrom BOOT You can enable serial ATA
again.

2.)As a sideeffekt the message "Save to Bios y/n"
does not disappear when you hit the key y
but it IS stored if You type y.
Until now this is the only bad thing I noticed after changing the bios.

Dont say, that I didnt warn you. It workes for me but I havent tested it
on any other computer.

Dietmar

1. 7B error appears whenever you dont have the proper support to
critical motherboard hardware, in this case: serial ATA. Add the
correct serial ATA support to your image and your problem 1 should be
solved.

SB61G2-V3 might have different serial ATA compare to SB61G2. Using the
same XPE on different hardware is never a good idea.

Hi Kevin,
if there is no Serial ATA at all and You get 07b, it could be only the
fault of the Bios.

Nice to hear from You
Dietmar

Hi Dietmar,

So far I have seen this problem only on boards that follow new EDD-3 standard.
"ANSI INCITS 407 - 2005" BIOS Enhanced Disk Drive Services - 3 (EDD-3)

Regards,
Slobodan
