Microsoft Security Essentials has a new upgrade. You can get it by clicking
on "help"
Upgrade Microsoft Security Essentials
I do notice now on the main tab "home" you can now see in scan details-
the last scan it did. I have been asking for this as a beta tester from the
beginning and finally MS put it in.
Other than that I see no other differences except when it scans it is now
green instead of blue.

Or, just install today's security updates--update 2019198, among them, will
update Microsoft Security Essentials to build 1961.

While I didn't look at the details, I did notice how clearly explained
and nicely formatted the update box was.

Two for XP and two for Office 2003, no restart required.
And the MSRT tool as well - other load this separately, no clue why - there are triggers you can use.

I'm not sure--very fragmented day--generally, one OS-related update and the
MSRT for each version of windows, and then some Office related stuff as
well, and the Microsoft Security Essentials update where applicable.

I haven't had any trouble with the updates--what I found remarkable was that
in a number of cases the MSRT was first or highest priority on the
installs--which is the reverse of normal--I expect to see it last.

Perhaps MSRC assumes most are surfing with the least amount of layered protection,
which is largely the case (opinion)
See this stand-alone post as to why MS may be bumping MSRT to high priority or required.

You can "permalink" a certain post within that Forum but unfortunately they sometimes don't
work elsewhere.

Sorry about that Robin, I shall try to cite the entire post next time but then you would have to wade
through to get to what I am trying to highlight.
