It seems that Movie Maker is becoming progressively more troublesome. I successful created small “music” video to play on my computer. I have expanded to making DVD’s. Recently this has caused multiple “unexpected” closings of MovieMaker. Presently I am working on a softball game. The goal was to gather the footage of each softball player into a section with her name preceding it. The first player has 6 clips in her five minutes. The program shut down after every 2 clips I added to the storyboard. I saved the file after each small change and added the basic title. It played in the preview but when I tried to save it the progress bar never moved and after running all night it said that it was still running but still at 0%. I wanted to save it as (NTSC) but have tried saving it as “Best Quality for Playback on My Computer” and even High Quality Small. All options have reacted the same --- 0% progress on the saving bar.
I am running AMD Athlon™) Processor , 1.15 GHz, 512 MB of RAM and 27.1 GB, 52.2GB and 11.5 GB of free space on my 3 disk drives.

Hello there,

You "might" have a codec problem which can be fixed by using the program
"Rename Codecs" available from my website. You should also visit the FAQ
section and look at Rename Codecs so as to see how to use it.

Other matters that might apply....If you are using any MPeg or MP3 clips
you should convert them to AVI and WAV's. Movie Maker does not function too
well with either of them.

There is also a file, the name of which escapes me at the moment that might
be to blame. If Graham is still around, perhaps he can fill in the details
for you.

My movie clips are mpeg. How do I convert them to AVI and waves? Is this also why I loose some of the audio --- which in this case I don't want anyway.

I'd also check that DivX is up to date, should be version 9, download from
M/S site.

Hello there again

I expect it is why you are loosing some audio....what's going on is MM is
trying to keep up as best it can and in the ensuing mess because of MPeg's
it tries to sacrifice something else so as to complete the task...a right
royal mess is what you can end up with.
