The hdd ID is 0.

In this pc WINDOWS NT Server 4.0 work fine...
It install Symbios C810 driver controller.

I want to install windows 2000 but i have a serius problem.

When a partition screen appears there is this text:

Setup cannot access this disk.

When i press enter another blue screen (error) appairs:
*** STOP: 0x0000001E (0x00000005, 0xBFFC0BC, 0x00000000, 0x639CB608)
KMODE_EXCEPITION_NOT_HANDLED

*** Address BFFC08BC base at BFFA2000, DateStamp 38441c2a Setupdd.sys

Then....i have downloaded a controller driver from Hp site... the only
controller driver is for ultra wide scsi 2... but i think that my controller
is only ultra wide scsi...
This driver, loaded with F6 option in windows 2000, don't is a solution..

I have downloaded a driver from Symbios site, fors SYMBIOS 53C875J .... not

I suspect it would be a driver issue, you are using the F6 option to install
the driver early in the setup process?

Oh, yes...i have tested many driver...but same results..
Windows 2000 if i use F6 option, load always the same driver: symc8xx ...and
crash!
WinNT 4.0 Server, instead, use C810 driver...and it work fine!
Very strange, because windows 2000 is NT based...

In the list of compatibility hardware of windows 2000 my proliant 800 6/200
4300 don't appear... it's incompatible?
There is Proliant 800 6/180 ... that is 180 MHz ...and my is 200 MHz..

A solution:

The problem is a SYMC8XX driver that charged by Windows 2000. It’s bad..or
wrong.
This is a solution:
Create a diskette setup of windows 2000 (4 diskette) from windows 2000 pro
cd rom.
In the diskette n.3 there is two files:
SYMC8XX.SY_ and SYMC810.SY_

Copy SYMC810.SY_ in your desktop (or other folder in your computer), rename
this file to SYMC8XX.SY_, copy this file to the disk n.3 and ovewrite.

Copy windows 2000 pro cd-rom in a folder of your computer, example win2kpro
(all files and all folders).
Into i386 folder there are two files: SYMC8XX.SY_ and SYMC810.SY_

Copy SYMC810.SY_ in your desktop (or other folder in your computer), rename
this file to SYMC8XX.SY_, copy this file to i386 folder and ovewrite.

Burning all files in a new cd-rom.

Then...
Insert a floppy n.1...2...3..4...and your disk work fine!

I don't know if you must modify a service pack after installation when you
upgrade your windows.. (but i think yes..)

Bye
